u/SuddenAvocadoTopicals wont fight gravity (much, tret helps). Its underlying structure. Exercise and staying a consistent weight are the best. I've seen great results form my NuFace Microcurrent and NEWA RF* devices, but they wont matter if you don't exercise and stay a consistent weight. *I saw instant results from NEWA but it died after the 5th use and I'm not replacing it right away.106
u/EAM44people don’t age in a gradual, linear manner, we age in bursts here and there. The two biggest bursts are at age 40 and 60, so brace yourself. I have NuFace, keep forgetting to use it…92
u/momob3rryExercise more than likely.64
u/GretchenWeiner2022Face massage is my number one (40F here). The muscles in your face will pull everything down. You don’t need a fancy technique you just need an oil based cleanser and clean hands. Rub on and spit that’s sore and after you’ve gotten all those spots, try massaging while smiling and then with your mouth open. I like to binge a show and just rub on my face for a while with my face steamer going and my vibration plate at my feet from time to time. You will find that after a while little grainy pieces will show up but if that happens don’t panic. It’s just sebaceous filaments that have been worked out. So really, the facial massage helps with lymph draining, sore muscles/sagging, and deep cleaning without stripping your skin.51
u/MsGeekStrength training is said to help boost your body’s collagen production, which helps with keeping skin firm. And it’s good for you anyways. Also if you’re a cis woman as you get older getting on hormone therapy or applying estrogen cream to the face can help.42
u/Titizen_KaneThis sub has a fucking bot problem to the extreme14
u/queenofyourheartSeconding everyone saying NuFace. I started using mine at 28-ish and I’m 34 now. originally for puffiness and a heavy brow, now for under chin bloat, slight droop on jaw, and same brow lift. You can use any conductive gel with it. I notice a difference when I do it 5-10 min a day for a month then every other day. Full honesty that I am using it for micro (no pun intended) changes that I’m sure most people don’t notice but I have to been on camera/calls for work and I see them.12
u/Careless_Mango_7948Yes tretinoin is proven to help stimulate collagen.12
u/Possible-Raccoon-146I can't say any products have truly worked for me, but exercise really helps. I fell off the strength training routine for a few weeks and I was spiraling about how old I was starting to look (I'm 37). In just two weeks of being back on my exercise routine, my face looks normal again. My skin is brighter and tighter.11
u/Complete_Put4822There's lots of natural things you can do like working out, drinking water, eating right. The only thing that will actually tighten your skin is Ultherapy or Thermage. Lasers help with skin texture. I just hate when there's so many promises from the skincare industry and no results. I will so though, using retinol and spf have been life changing for me.9
u/jenifaOHHHjennyFace yoga. Build up the muscles in your cheeks and neck8
u/HHOVqueenEndymed, Endymed Intensif, Morpheus8, Sofwave, Ultherapy Just be aware that not everyone is a candidate for all of these, and you need to see a skilled provider. You can mess up the fat in your face if the provider uses the wrong settings on the devices (which happens a lot with Morpheus8). More intense isn’t always better.7
u/Fearless_Annual_8416I’m 40 My weight only fluctuates between about 6lbs I weight train & run a little I noticed at about 37 I seemed to just age overnight Like everything had suddenly started to sink. Noticed on photos more than in the mirror This is natural ageing collagen loss. Skin looses its ability to hold itself up. Think of it as the scaffolding is collapsing. I have used tret for 10 years This has helped keep fine lines away - I don’t have any around my eyes or my forehead apart from the 11s I have Botox in 11s & under brow hair do brow lift. This has helped massively long term with skin quality- it doesn’t look dehydrated like some of girl friends who have fine lines now around eyes / forehead It’s helps with skin quality but can not lift the skin per say. At 39 I had 3 vials of sculptra over 3 sessions & I first noticed the benefits at the 3 month mark & it’s still improving as the weeks go by Will asses in June if I need a fourth Around my mouth, pre jowls & cheeks my skin is now lifted & firm but I still look like me. No added projection just youthful bounce to the touch. When I pinch the skin it’s feels thick not paper thin. I have since moved onto skinpen microneedling (had 3 so far) this is for overall skin texture improvement (I was oily so larger pores in between brows & across cheeks) I think whatever you choose it’s about stacking the right treatments for your skin concerns & knowing their limitations. I also treated my under eyes with 1 vial of redensity 2 filler at 35 year old - I still see the volume from it now. My injector said no more due to the risk of over filling I have moved onto under eyes boosters - had 4 Sunekos & will continue with maintenance treatments as this is definitely holding off lines & crepey skin in that area Another thing is really focusing in on hydration of the skin Gentle fragrance free skin products Oil cleanser Gentle hydrating 2nd step cleanser Tret & moisturizer Finding the ones that work for you & really keeping onto of it’s daily helps6
u/Difficult_Affect_452Copper peptides, tret, even otc retina have all firmed my shit up.5
u/Primary_Edge_602I was lucky enough to be given a free Sculptra treatment and it was honestly so good. It plumped everything up naturally and nicely. I’m currently pregnant at the moment, so I can’t have another treatment yet, but I will be when I’m able to do so. At the moment I’m just drinking my collagen (bovine) to get what I need.5
u/Shoddy_Challenge5253I do see a visible difference in how glowy my skin is when I’m taking my collagen peptides daily. Can’t speak on microcurrent or other devices or spa treatments but I do love my red light panel (mine has blue light for acne too, it works) and tretinoin. I see a noticeable difference when I’m using all at the same time and notice dullness when I stop or forget my routine for too long.5
u/vulylyvuLook into tazarotene3
u/Unfair_Finger5531I’ve used tretinoin and taz for 35 years, and I use peptides, egf, and vitamin c daily. I can definitely say the retinoids have effectively kept my skin wrinkle-free and line-free at age 51. They also keep my skin pretty firm. But the copper peptides and other peptides I use help a great deal. The vitamin c seems to contribute as well. Anti-aging is a multi product game. It isn’t just retinoids or peptides. It is ALL of the things: peptides, egf, antioxidants, retinoids, exfoliation, and vitamin c. All of these things need to be incorporated into the routine. I also think higher-strength retinoids are more effective as you age. For gravity, however, hormone replacement therapy can do a lot. Outside of that, surgery is the best solution. To get all the peptides and EGFs you need into your routine, try a multipeptide product. I love Bioheal prioderm lifting ampoule and emulsion. Both have a bunch of egf and peptides and antioxidants. And Hanskin collagen peptide ampoule is also very good.2
u/Weird_Squirrel_8382My sister told me radio frequency micro needling is her favorite thing short of a facelift. She's two years younger than I am but looks a good ten. She's also at a healthy weight.1
u/ReceptionWorking7312The only thing I saw results with was combo CoolPeel laser and Vivace RFM.1
u/sneh473I recommend you to watch dr idriss on youtube. She ll have all your answers1
u/orangedrinkmcdonaldsReally good laser treatments. Don’t pay for expensive skin creams - save for Fraxel or CO2 (for face and neck). A good laser routine + sunscreen + tret is way better than any half measures. Signed, your 45 yr old friend who got carded buying wine this week.1
u/Significant-Coast981I had overnight noticed my face was sagging and got Thermage laser treatment and after one session noticed lasting results! My double chin is gone and my fad looks like it did in my 20s! Can’t recommend this enough!1
