Well if it IS a real story March/April marks 9 months since the last update so maybe we'll find out:
-Is Sorrel pregnant?
-Did Henri ever go to the ultrasound appt?
-Did Henri figure out that Sorrel (who apparently also works in his field) only got together with his father in an attempt to get closer to and seduce him?
-Will any of them grow a backbone and tell the psycho-woman that she is not actually related to any of them and therefore she needs to stay away from them?
Find out next time on Dragonball - I mean BORU!

i love reading long posts where every single detail is included, even the ones that i wouldn’t think to ask for. idk, maybe i’m just way too nosy for my own good?? op used paragraphs, punctuation and even a little bit of french. this was an easy read. it kinda reminds me of those french films with an unsettling vibe where something is wrong but you just can’t put your finger on it and nothing really happens for long periods of time. the film would of course be left open ended and viewers would complain about the ending as always happens with open endings. i do hope that this ending isn’t open though, it would be nice to get an update where sorrel is not pregnant, just crazy and removed from the families lives for good.

It's weird that I just read so much, and yet we still don't know: - anything about the younger kids' mother, if she's alive or why she's not around, how long she's been out of the picture - whether they've always lived with the uncle, or if they lived with the father for any period of time - whether the father's contact is a recent development or if he's always been allowed to just kinda be around despite having lost full legal custody - why the uncle is gone so much even though he's the sole legal guardian of the minor children - are they all French except for the gf? Did they live in France for part of their lives but now they live somewhere else? (Not really important but I'm just confused about the context of Sorrel mocking her accent.)
I don't know, did I miss it? I'm not advocating for this thing being even longer, it just seems weird that I'm left with so many questions after reading for so long.

''Grab your popcorn'' is like a golden badge telling you the rest of the post(s) will be total bs lol
465
u/Talinia
I could have sworn I'd already read this update, but I guess the last one was the discovery of the "pregnancy" and this one is just that OOP is suspicious of it. OOP is pretty active though, so kinda surprised there's nothing in the last 8 months either way
426
u/WeeklyConversation8
Unless she's very high risk, or having medical issues, OB appointments aren't weekly. They are monthly. If this is real, she's trying to be their Mom.
370
u/SpillThatTea2Me
Oh geez. OP is getting pushed out of her own family. Hopefully her brothers and uncles have her back like she thinks they do or she’s screwed.
323
u/Kerbart
I'm confused about OP's disenfranchised father whose been a drunk and out of her life and only reconnected a year before the events happened. Yet he's a street car racer who taught her driving and she "knows him to the bone."
It just doesn't add up.
274
u/Leftieswillrule
This story was less interesting than I hoped.
175
u/fndnvolusrgofksb
I read the entire popcorn post and nothing happens. You learn op is French, that's it. Everyone else acts completely as expected. OP yaps on and on about every single family picture taken and how nice her car is. (Context she does not know the meaning of the word concise) Your brain cells discover that there is a way out through your ears.
151

So much text with so little actually important information....

u/Astrosauced
Some people have too much time on their hands.
106
u/Response-Glad
Not the first time a step mom figure has gotten weirdly jealous of their step daughter. Gross. In this case it sounds like this woman can't conceptualize at all what growing up in this family has been like or the parenting OP had to do early.
She definitely doesn't get it since she decided to have a baby with dad despite everything she has seen. I wonder how much minimizing the story Dad has done. Doesn't seem like he has ever really taken accountability.
However, sounds like OP has done a truly incredible job for her family. She shouldn't have had to grow up so young, but she did so well against all of the odds. She should be proud of herself and trust her gut.
98
u/LeadmeNotFL
LISTEN, CHARLIE, GET YOUR ASS BACK ON REDDIT AND FINISH THE STORY!

I learned driving from my dad, he used to be a street racer.
This is just the dumbest shit.
But, I mean, the whole saga is an idiot plot.
“Dad, Sorrel is overstepping and bugging the living shit out of us. I’m not saying you have to break up, but If you keep bringing her around then neither of you will be invited to anything ever again.”
64
u/Accomplished_Cod7613
Definitely felt like I was reading a story arch from Shameless with this.
60
u/Key_Possibility_8669
Am I the only one that got surprised by the fact that the two youngest siblings have a different mother? Where is she, and why isn't she involved in the children's lives?
57
u/MinionsHaveWonOne
I was skeptical but enjoying the ride until OOP reached into the glove box for a highly convenient key that was surplus to requirements but luckily closely resembled the key she'd taken off Sorrel. And "accidently" grabbed $5 (I know my glovebox is stuffed with $5 notes) so she could conveniently shove it at Dad with a snarky remark. My disbelief can no longer be suspended.
37
u/Both-Condition2553
“I raised them too” from a girlfriend of six months is wild.
28
u/Sebscreen
Sorrel is obviously terrible. But I cannot get over how spineless OOP and her brothers are.
They hold all the cards. Yet, they allow themselves to be condescended to and disrespected again and again and again. They should have burned their relationship with their awful dad and his awful gf a long time ago.
28
u/LivSaJo
If the baby existed it would be born by now. I hope we get an update

I would pay almost anything to see those photos from the gala.
15
u/violue
Okay when it got to the part with the jars it stopped being fun. I feel really bad for OOP and the fact that if the pregnancy is legit this terrible woman is going to be a permanent part of her life.
Considering how low their opinion of their father is, I'm surprised they've all been willing to put up with Sorrel?? Is it for his sake??
15
u/Maximum-Ear1745
This was hard to read. I would have shut down communication much much earlier.

I really hope she updates this at least one more time so we can find out if Sorrel was ever actually pregnant and whether or not the potential baby was Anatole’s.

12
u/comomellamo
This is nuts. The "dad" has no legal rights to the younger siblings so they should just cut contact with him and his gf. When the Uncle is back in town he can deal with his brother.
11
u/Jack0fTh3TrAd3s
The most spineless family on earth.
This whole thing would have been done and quashed with a simple "if she's here, you're not welcome" to the dad.
Either he leaves and no harm no foul, or he leaves her, a win for the family.
11
u/Allergictosquirrels
“i’m no longer investing energy into enduring your behavior.”

So daddio has five children he has never had custody of and having a sixth one? Why do I feel like this baby is going to end up on the uncle’s porch at some point in the future?

Well, I'll give OP credit. It definitely sounds like a 16 year old wrote it. It doesn't make any sense, but I believe a teenager could come up with this level of nonsense.

The comment about wearing a guy's shirt being him " marking his territory" sounds so stupid. Also, her dad destroyed most of her clothes, what the fuck was she supposed to be wearing?

Why is no one talking about the fact that the mom is clearly in a lesbian polycule wherever she is and has essentially left the family but they can't say that because divorce is still taboo in some cultures?

u/Quirky-Weird-4242
In summary, incel dad raised a bunch of incel sons..
356
u/41flavorsandthensome
This really bothered me to the point that parts of my brain shut down. Not because of OOP, but because her dad and brothers are fucked up.
I think her brother (was it Elijah?) getting in a fight after sexually harassing a woman pretty much summed it all up. The dad and bros didn't want OOP to get assaulted because of what she was wearing, which is total bullshit because rape is about power, not attraction/clothes/whatever.

90
u/West-Kaleidoscope129
From the very first comment about the skirt being short I knew dad and brothers were sexualising her!
They just didn't want her in the skirt because they felt (like all predators) she was leading them on and they knew it was wrong for them to think and feel that way about her so blame her instead of their own perverted minds!
Like father like sons!
84
u/volkswagenorange
So the big secret her father and brothers won't share with her is that they are all piece-of-shit misogynists and abusers. Got it.
Meanwhile Mum has sacrificed her daughter's safety and left her with these disgusting abusers so she can have her own freedom. Got it.
Cripes I hope OOP gets a decent job and never speaks to any of wastes of oxygen again.
78
u/lfIwereaclownfish
This sounds like several Philippine families I know. It seems very common for the women especially to leave the home to work professional jobs overseas where the pay is good. Her mentioning that she got a lot of her cloths from fairs is also another give away. And then how the school is structured is also not how they do things in England. There's more clues but I just hope she cuts off her dad and brothers. Her mom needed someone else to step in and tell her to go be a mom smfh. Atleast she seems to have found a supportive, adoptive family. Honestly though, her mom being a traveling international lawyer sounds whole heartedly false. It's more likely she's a nurse, having multiple roommates fits that. In Japan that's how international nurses are houses, in groups and dorms.

These men are not safe to be around. What could they do next to their sister/daugther? What kind of "punishment" Will they consider entitled to inflict her? Maybe together, since they were oh so sure they could control her as they please.
28
u/thesilveringfox
mom’s name is Godot
23
u/Terrible_Kiwi_776
I'm getting a vibe that the mom's divorced friend is more of a romantic partner. After all, she wasn't at work but still didn't want to come home to help her child. Plus, why lie about a 3rd roommate? Maybe because having 2 other roommates sounds less intimate than the reality of two ladies living together for fun. I'm also getting a vibe that dad is probably projecting his own infidelity feeling onto his daughter.
Hopefully everyone in that family will get some quality therapy. They need it.
19
u/violue
imo the fact that it's so convoluted actually makes it feel more true.
it's not like the idea is so out there. a bunch of men deciding a girl's vagina is some family treasure that they all must guard, even to the detriment of the girl herself.
19
u/Exotic-Day-1082
Maybe I missed it but was this family of a different culture but living in the UK? Kind of got that vibe.
15
u/oceanduciel
What the fuck is wrong with the men in this family
7
u/Yutana45
Let's say it fir what it is: she wasnt a sister or daughter to any man in her immediate family. The mom was tryna tip toe around it, but it was clear they were all sexually attracted to her in some sick capacity. What an awful set of men. I hope her mom inevitably divorced and just sends money for the youngest bc the oldest two are lost causes already.
6
u/LightOfHekate
Ah yes, the visual representation of how patriarchal conditioning hurts even the men that benefit: tearing an entire family apart, sending the older men to the hospital due to stress, breeding sexual predators with anger issues and entitlement problems, breeding spineless men who claim to be leaders while lying on their backs and presenting their throats for other men, and traumatizing the women who are just trying to live their lives with autonomy.
Literally everyone failed the OOP. Dad, all her brothers, even her mom. The only safe space was her friend’s family and I am so glad she had support outside of the hell she was enduring but gods, do I feel the indescribable rage of every woman for how this transpired.
I get that the mom wasn’t expecting all of those kids but you can’t just leave them??? Does she not realize that because she refused to own the fact she got pregnant without planning for the unlikelihood of another set of twins, she is literally the reason this all happened to begin with? Considering the mom’s reaction to hearing all of that, I’m inclined to believe that had she stayed like a mature adult who understands she made a commitment by choosing to have kids, no matter how many, she would have immediately corrected the misogyny the moment it came out. Though I’d like to believe that it wouldn’t have even gotten to this point if she did stay (see why it’s her fault too?)
Massive props to the friend’s family, genuinely. For her age, OOP handled this whole thing really well. Despite the intense emotions, she found ways to remain grounded and respected her own boundaries. That mom, sister, and her friend all deserve the best in life.
It’s good to see the mom at least try now and thank that lovely divorced woman who talked sense into her (may she heal and find real, healthy love), but from the update itself, it seems like the mom is just… accepting everything and not actually trying to fix anything. The dad brought up therapy but like… idk maybe I’m expecting too much but it feels like she’s purposely dragging her feet, but I could just be cynical and I’m genuinely hoping I’m wrong.
I can see why OP is keeping this marked as inconclusive too… this is one of those situations that will either resolve or blow up more, especially if they’re going to be trying to do better because that one brother is going to be the one that refuses and escalates. Until something happens to force him to confront what he’s become, he’s going to just keep spiraling and drowning in his own anger. I wouldn’t be surprised if that anger comes from the fact his mom essentially “abandoned” them for her freedom and he resents her for it.
I’m just rooting for the OOP; the only sane person in that entire family. May she process and heal this trauma and continue to step into the strong woman it sounds like she’s becoming.
Edited: wording/phrasing

u/Groslom
The only English or American thing I can detect in this is the language itself.
5
u/ThePenultimateRolo
There is no way OP is in top grade classes and grew up in the UK. Her writing is not native English, no matter if she got interested in American English
5
u/spacebunsofsteel
The constant mentions of her stuffed animals in the middle of a dysfunctional family exploding made me tear up. She loves her stuffies and doesn’t understand motivations of her abusive dad and brothers.
This post hints at her mom finding a way out - constant travel, parenting via text, just sends a check. What is she running to?
What happened to the lover? Why is affair boy baby accepted, but affair girl baby is scapegoated and carefully controlled as she matures into a woman?
Considering how many updates there are, I still have a million questions.
I hope she finds a safe spot and thrives.
5
u/fjmj1980
Honestly my first hunch was mom was a lesbian and everyone knows except OOP and every male now thinks anything remotely feminine is a trigger.
4
u/TheFilthyDIL
OK, being a cynical old woman, I'm going to say what OOP's father and brother are too embarrassed to say. Heterosexual males often get erections when they see women in attractive clothes. They may even be responding that way to OOP and are embarrassed about it. They don't want other men responding sexually to seeing OOP, even if she doesn't encourage it and doesn't even know it.
They know they can't stop these other males, so they're applying pressure on the only person they can somewhat control -- OOP.
It doesn't excuse the insane rampage where he tore up most of her clothes, though. I'm willing to bet that he tore up anything that he deemed "too revealing"-- too tight, too low-cut, too short in the skirt -- and left her with a few baggy sweatshirts and a few longer skirts or loose-fitting pants.
(I had a miniskirt as a teen that barely covered my butt. Did I wear that when my father could see? Hell, no! 😂 Did my boyfriend (now husband) like it? Hell, yes!)
