u/Icy-Kaleidoscope3038Thanks for all this...then I saw the link and the words "free demo"...and all good for hustle and business, but I've seen and talked to enough folks who have signed onto groups that require compensation or take a cut...14
u/joysboxTotally agree about the Buddy statements! I hope your post is really read and digested by our Veterans for their claims. Wanted to say that your first example about Rheumatoid Arthritis isn’t really how RA usually shows up medically. My husband has had RA since around 2012, so I’ve spent more time than I ever expected learning about how this disease actually behaves. RA is systemic autoimmune inflammatory disease, and the joint swelling and stiffness are usually persistent and often symmetrical, especially in the hands and wrists. The morning stiffness can last an hour or more, and the inflammation tends to stick around rather than popping up for 2–3 days and then disappearing. Your example sounds closer to is Osteoarthritis, which is more of a wear-and-tear / mechanical joint issue where symptoms can flare after heavy use or stress on the joints. Just my two cents. Thank you for your information!7
u/Useful-Zebra-5657Lay statements mean almost nothing if it is not supported by the evidence of record.3
u/Direct-Humor-8622Thank you for sharing. It is information like this that helps veterans.3
u/Jazzlike-Ear-7485Question for you? I was about to sign up and I’m reading the disclaimer - The free account will provide “Demo Mode Access” to realistic claims information. So - is the data based on real appellate cases from BVA and CAVC? Or is it simply modeling hypothetical claims and conditions? Looks like an interesting tool - great potential.2
u/Captin_CavemanFollowing for information2
u/Miserable-Ad7079This may be the most useful post I've ever read. Thank you for taking the time to explain how important your lay statement is and how to best word it. I've got a few to get done soon and I'll be saving this post and using your link.2
u/BothCalligrapher3842Very interesting and sounds solid2
u/RumblejeffAlways include a lay statement!2
u/Background-Season213Hmm, I wrote out my personal lay statement, not good. Used Chatgpt.com was much better. What is different? Why should I use Raven when I can easily use Chat or Claude ai?2
u/Used-Independence182Amazing post2
u/dolphfanmanI believe that lay statements ( personal, family, and buddies) mean more at a BVA judge decision. However, too many CP examiners ( nurse practitioners) summarily dismiss positive outside evidence and look for simple, on-point STR medical evidence . Some are more “totality” of All evidence but most are “nothing is reflected in STR” and a “not as likely SC.” Afterwards, the “Raters” undoubtedly look for the negative marked box and deny. Rarely, do the Raters read lay evidence, and consider other factors mentioned in the claim for a broader equipoise opinion. My opinion. These are not 100 percent but you would be rich in Vegas taking these odds.1
u/Calm-Proof3577AI slop SPAM is what the post amounts to.1
u/Pure-Parsnip-1757Sounds amazing. How does one get access?1
u/Omega10115This is great information. I plan to take a look at my claim submission strategy to make sure it correlates to the information you presented. Thank you much!!1
u/Beneficial-Tank-3477You should also always do a statement with headaches/migraines. The exam is set up so that if the examiner doesn't think you have migraines, they won't say how frequently you get headaches. You need to say how often you get them1
u/Mike-A-FInteresting. I feel like you might get ripped here but I think its important to build out tools for people to help get thru the process. I may give it a shot in my new claim to test it out. I’ve been going back and forth w different LLMs & looping into contradictions when i go too deep.1
u/CandieCummingVA is using Ai more and more. With proper prompts and clear communication and interpretation of your evidence and symptoms you can use AI (I like Chat GPT and Grok) to properly construct statements and then edit them that pass the VA Ai but you still need to be able to articulate them to the reviewers. The human element is as critical as the AI formats so put in the time and effort but use all tools available also. No need for purgery or embellishment. You got this.

2r/VAClaimsIncrease claim denied as “not service connected” - makes no sense?Any_Let5221130%7662.7PRP knee treatment2026-03-22

u/Creative_Raise_8682Not attending the c&p was not thr right move. If they schedule another one, show up for it.39
u/Gatesofhell2120You still have to go to the VA exam. Technically speaking you can choose not to go, but if you don't they are going to deny you. It doesn't matter whether you have private DBQs or not or what the claim is for, you still need to go to a scheduled C&P exam. After the exams the VA MIGHT look into your DBQs. I don't know who told you you don't need to attend the VA's exam or why, but they fucked you over if you listened.34
u/Quirky_Republic_3454For openers, Ree medical is not VA approved. Secondly, missing the VAs C&P exam was a huge no-no. How many mistakes can you make on one claim? Go find a VSO. You have no idea what you're doing.14
u/Lennydawg57You should have went to the schedule C&P,13
u/Caliente_La_FleurIf you are scheduled for C&p for increase and you don’t attend it is an automatic denial, per M-21.13
u/97lifeAttend VA C&Ps. For heaven’s sakes. The sheer foolishness9
u/Wesley832Look on the bright side, Doug Collins says there's no back log.7
u/Majestic_Try906I just don’t understand not going because you submitted private DBQs. No matter what you submit, if they schedule you, then you should be going. They usually want to make sure that the information is accurate. Not really a smart move, in my opinion.6
u/Big-Hovercraft1331Post the decision narrative with PII and QR codes redacted.5
u/Big-Hovercraft1331My suspicion is the rater went to do blanket denials for the increases due to you refusing the exams and used the wrong narrative. You can do an HLR due to the decision being for service connection and not for increase and ask the reviewer why they found your DBQs to be insufficient. You believe they were sufficient. If the reviewer still finds your DBQs insufficient, you didn't attend the exam then at best an HLR will correct the narrative.5
u/WithHeavenOnTopWhy would you miss the C&P….they are literally trying to help you.5
u/Admirable_Hedgehog64[deleted]4
u/GulfWarVeteran1991What do the folks that told you not to go to the c and p exam have to say about this?4
u/Emotional_Childhood6😬……they told you not to go to your C&P………😬3
u/DealerofTheWorldLol can I know how much you paid for this amazing advice3
u/Big-Hovercraft1331Did you physically meet with a REE medical examiner?2
u/nawlforealIts also very unusual to deny two conditions in one issue. In this case left knee and cervical spine. It makes .e wonder what the Rater did because if you are already service connected the decision process for building the decision is different and this would be easier and faster to deny an increase than a claim for service connection. I would request a HLR. I am assuming only two of rhe conditions are service connected since you at at 20%.2
u/Creative_Raise_8682Not attending the c&p was not thr right move. If they schedule another one, show up for it.2
u/SharingKnowledgeHopeSounds like they answered the wrong question: “Is this serviced connected?” Unfortunately happens a lot with the first level review. Request a higher level review, with a telephone discussion. You can explain it to them, they will straighten it out.2
u/kev_mimsTo deny a C&P is probably not the best choice... REE is definitely on the VA watchlist. Cease-and-Desist Directives: The VA's Office of General Counsel has previously directed REE Medical to "immediately cease" activities that the VA considers unauthorized or illegal representation under federal law.2
u/Brilliant-Flight5314Yall get bad advice always attend exams regardless2
u/Lennydawg57People are always trying to use other faculties that are scammers that only want money and bad advice. I hope it works out for you but I don’t think it will.1
u/WishSuperb1427Well, I have never heard of REE medical, so I will not vote on if that is a good idea compared to a VA certified attorney or a VSO. On to the second part of the question though…. which honestly may lead back to the question of who REE medical is and what they do… Why again would you skip a C&P exam?!? It’s kind of a thing where a medical person hired by the VA confirms that what you are claiming is an actual medical issue…. Seems to me like a thing you might be will to miss a tee time or a business lunch for but um?!?! Yeah I am not surprised skipping it was a contributing factor to denial.1
u/FirmCarry1931Baby just file again.1
u/Successful_Pea_2528Ok, you filed a claim for increase on these conditions and we denied service connection? Did you claim new issues with the increase?1
u/Careless_Distance557You guys need to realize....not going to an Exam is a risk that you should not be willing to take..it doesn't matter if you have private medical opinion or DBQ...go to the exam.1
u/No-Survey-569Never miss a C&P, and sorry don't pay for claim sharks. If you pay for representation be sure they are a VA accredited attorney or claims officer.1
u/OofUghGenuinely so confused about why you didn’t attend your C&P exam? Private DBQs are purely supplemental.1
u/Educational-Star-375Always go to the exam the Va schedules for you. You got scammed brother1
u/Medical_Barnacle_240Just to clarify, “REE Medical” filed an increase request for you and on your behalf? If the answer is yes, then they - REE Medical - are the ones who screwed the pooch. My advice to you would be to contact a VSO through your local VA hospital and/or your county VSO (assuming you have one). Third parties always make this look easy, but they do so to enrich themselves at your expense. Never trust them.1
u/Excellent_Cupcake749Stop using outside entities for dbqs. Use the dbqs you are given appointments for. The more you poke the VA the less likely you are to receive the compensation you deserve. You did it to yourself. I went from 20%-90% by myself and only going to the c&p exams appointed by the Va not outside sources1
u/ScoeDaKidd6767go HLR1
