u/Legitimate-Play9162I just damn! You really went through it! I am glad there is still hope! I'm wishing you consistent improvement with your health!positive26
u/Kane518I wish I could give you a hug. My goodness, you been through it! Please keep us updated with your progress (if you’re comfortable doing so). Ps- I laughed out loud when I saw that last picture. Keep up the humor and try to stay positive. Your hair will be back before you know it!positive16
u/waldorflover69I understand how TE sucks but I am so glad you are still here. You have a great attitude. I hope you get super healthy and then everything falls back into placepositive15
u/BornTry5923You got me with the Gollum at the end😅 I went through something similar, although to a much lesser degree. Had a double bowel resection in Dec, but one of the anastomoses obstructed, and then 10 days later, perforated. I needed emergency surgery to repair it and clean out my abdomen. Still ended up with sepsis and spent a month in the hospital. I could barely eat and became anemic. Now, 3 months later, my hair is coming out in clumps.neutral9
u/NysanthiaSomething similar happened to this girl named Kianna Chang on TikTok, very sudden and extreme case of TE that presented the same thing as yours. Don't remember what she did in the interim, but it ended up growing back.neutral4
u/stefflpUgh, you have been through the ringer. I'm so sorry. It's mentally daunting. I understand. I actually had a few deficiencies trigger a TE shed in 2025 (which I was usually getting due to hormonal fluctuations). And I had already been on topical minoxidil for 8 years at that time, but they tested oral minoxidil with me (I have pretty low blood pressure so we had to be careful) and it was a success. I also went on dutasteride (DHT blocker) 2x per week and that really nipped the last shed in the but and stopped it. Also I do RLT EOD and microneedling at home 1 x per week, sleep on satin, air dry hair, and only use henna on hair, no chemicals. Growing hair needs an adjunct therapy, so you're doing a good thing looking into other therapies. My last shed triggered AGA which I feel I have been doing preventative work my whole life, since my mom and dad both have baldness. I have a good amount of hair compared to them and I'm working so hard to keep it. Hang in there. Thankfully, there are great wigs, toppers, and halo hair options to carry you through the TE sheds. I am just starting to dapple in them now. I would never do extensions since the pulling, but the halos are great options for me.negative2
u/_nachtkalmar_And here I am throwing myself a pitty party because of my chronic TE. Good grief, you really went through an absolute nightmare. I am so sorry. The hair pales in comparison, in the end, what does it actually matter when you almost lost your life. I would probably buzz cut it if this was me, I don't think I could handle the Gollum look and it would feel more like a decision instead of remnants of hair that once was. But that's just me, you do whatever feels better for you. I am very impressed with your strength, I am sure you are an inspiration to many people, it must shine through in real life as well. I wish you the very best.negative2
u/Kjames0322Sending a hug your way, this is so much to go through. I hope things start looking up for you💛positive1
u/Fuzzy_Register6006Hello! You seem to be an amazing person and definitely one with a strong attitude, congrats on healing and I hope you will recover even more in the future. Your Lashes and brows look amazing though. Have you considered going bald or trying hair toppers? I think you could pull the bald look off really well, considering your full and long lashes/brows. I have never tried hair toppers myself, but halo extensions and they gave me so much confidence, maybe toppers are an alternative in the meantime! Heal well!!positive1
u/Minute-WillowHi, I suffer from chronic TE which all started when I was hospitalized for 3 weeks and got a lot of drugs, 10 years ago. Since then, anxiety attacks trigger it as well. I just recently lost hair again at the end of last year, and had two other big anxiety attacks since, so I’m expecting another loss soon. Removing the trigger is the first step. PRP really helped me. And time. I use serums too but it’s more to have the impression to do something. Unsure if they really do. I was never in your situation with this much loss. Some parts of my scalp were a bit visible. If i was in your situation I would research wearing a wig. I think it would really help with my self esteem. I wish you a fast recovery ❤️‍🩹negative1
u/Apprehensive_Row_161I honestly shaved my head bc the TE was so bad. Mine wasn’t as severe but I understand your painnegative1
u/IonaNinteenEightyA massive hug to you queen xxpositive1
u/Sufficient-Heart-524I’m so sorry you’ve gone through this!!! It sounds like you are well on the mend, thankfully.positive1
u/Material-Somewhere55Eat for nutrients, hoola red light panel, pray mindfully channel growth to that area (i know sounds hooeywa but stress causes disease so wouldn’t relaxation and intentional thought cause healing?), atleast TE grows back, i cant only imagine how you are feeling and i am soooo sorry you were chosen to go thru this. You must be one of gods strongest soldiers.. sending you sooo much healing energy ?neutral1
u/Hideaway31Big hugs to you! Wow that’s a lot, but it sounds like you’re mostly on the other side. TE on top of it all just sucks and it doesn’t help that it’s a long road to regrowth but you should absolutely stay hopeful. It sounds like you have an incredible attitude and sense of humor and that will take you so far ❤️negative1
u/MarsupialPrimary8128Ok, imma be honest. When I saw the first pics, I was horrified and my heart absolutely went out to you. Then I realized you were a woman, even more so then I did think, mad lashes. I thought about how much my own TE ate me inside, but I questioned could I have mentally survived your case? Then I thought, is that really TE? Then I saw the last pic, and I nearly choked on my Dr pepper. But genuinely, I hope you get through it. I love the humour, but I know it's because you've reached a coping mechanism. I've realized at some point I had to let go of possibly never having the same hair. Your story has put my own trial into perspective. Time is healer, even if it's not our scalps. I do recall at the peak of my TE my hair stopped growing everywhere. My lashes, my eyebrows were very patchy. ( I was in like 5% of thick haired people, the kind of stuff you learn when you go through TE) Just overall hairy. Everything was on pause for maybe 5 months. So I think that's a positive sign your lashes and brows are growing. I think my own TE has scarred me for life. I notice everywhere hair. Constantly calibrating what's normal. Then other times. I don't have the time to think about it and I'm glad to be here, people depend on me without or without hair. Your story is a testament to you are meant to be here for a long time. Remember that, and each metamorphosis, is always better, so make sure you see it. Hugs and kisses. Thanks for posting, and keep us updated. 🫂❤️positive1
u/Inside_General3196Fighter with a sense of humor. I wish we were friends. 😆positive1
u/_mxyxI went through a traumatic hospital stay last year that caused me to lose half my hair but it was nothing compared to what you went through! My heart goes out to you, I can only imagine how stressful that was. You are a strong person to get through that and still have a positive attitude. And your lashes look amazing wtf hahapositive1
