Congrats. It takes time, but it’ll come back. 13 years later I feel as normal as anyone.

Wonderful. I am currently in hospital starting my chemo with a stem cell transplant scheduled later in the summer. I’m scared but hopeful and your story gives me hope.

Fantastic news. Coming up on my 1st year HSCT anniversary (21 day stay with me). Energy will slowly recover. Be patient and celebrate living. If I ever had to do again I’d seriously consider a gigantic 7/11 slushie to combat those moth sores. Ouch.

Hello! Thank you for sharing your story! I also have this procedure coming up in the next few months.
How are you feeling? Are there any tips for beginners, or is it just something you have to get through day by day? ?
What I will say is that they have a million anti-emetics that you can take, most often all at the same time. If something isn’t working make it known and they should be able to at least try to help you. If they offer you oral medications vs. IV meds the IV ones work better imo. Best of luck!

I had a similar BV based regimen that my stomach tolerated well. I then had an Autologous Stem Cell transplant and didn’t vomit from that either. The nurses warned me it would actually be loss of control of my bowels that could happen from BEAM and although I definitely had some interesting BMs I never lost control.
A tip that's too late for you but maybe someone else will see it. I went through the same thing, and filgastrim was part of my original treatment. I still need a shot on occasioin. While the evidence can be considered anecdotal, my oncologist and several nurses recommended taking Claritin for bone pain. It worked like a charm for me, and for my wife who took some medications for osteoporosis and was saddled with horrible bone pain. I've seen similar stories here from other people. It's a shame no one told you ahead of time.

I learned my lesson when I only took Claritin for a few days. I made it a daily regimen and never had bone pain again.
